Meet our beautiful dogs. Thank you for your interest in adopting!
Duchess
Poodle (Standard), ,***Local Adoption Only: Duchess must be adopted by an individual/family in the Central Florida region (Orlando area) who will commit to taking her to her follow-up vetting appointment for her dental and spay. This has already been scheduled and the cost is covered by her adoption donation.***
Hello! My name is Duchess. I am a 4-year-old standard poodle girl who weighs 52 pounds. While I may not be part of a true royal family, I would love to find a home where I can treat you like royalty. I rank very high in kindness, sweetness and playfulness.
General Behavior: Duchess is adventurous, affectionate, athletic and smart. She is an enthusiastic social butterfly who will gladly be the life of the party.
Likes & Dislikes: Duchess LOVES to play! She is very active and could happily go, go, go all day. As far as toys go . . . she could take them or leave them.
Training: Duchess is house trained in her foster home and even lets her foster mom know when she needs to go out. She walks well on a leash and has good basic manners. She does very well on car rides.
Medical: Duchess is a healthy girl and just needs her monthly heartworm and flea/tick preventative, like any other dog.
Other Animals: Duchess is experienced with playful dogs of all sizes. Due to her size and playfulness, sharing a home with smaller dogs would not be ideal. However, a home with another large and playful dog would be awesome for Duchess. In her foster home, she ignores the resident cat, as well as the 2 barn cats and the chickens.
Children: Duchess would be a good fit for respectful children 8 and older. Her size and energy could be too much for smaller children who could easily be knocked over.
Home: Duchess could also live in an apartment or condo as long as she is given LOTS of exercise throughout the day to work off her energy. Her “dream palace” would be a single-family home with a fenced yard and a larger dog to run around with. Duchess can be left alone in a home for several hours without issues and stays in a secure area in her foster home. After a day of play, Duchess gets her beauty sleep in her own cozy space.
Grooming: Dazzling Duchess will need regular professional grooming. The ongoing cost of this should be considered by her potential adopter.
Overall: Duchess is a wonderful dog who is sure to be a great addition to her new “FUR”ever home. As long as she is loved and gets plenty of opportunity to play, she will be a happy girl.
Are you the one for Duchess? Then visit our website www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org where you will find the application to adopt. You will be put in contact with the foster family for more information if it is a potential match. She is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and spayed. Her adoption donation is $350.
show lessEvie
Chihuahua, ,Hi, I’m Evie, a 4-year-old Chihuahua blend who weighs 15 lbs. It may take a minute for you to win my heart, but once you do, I will always save a seat for you on the couch, always greet you at the door with 1000 enthusiastic tail wags, and give you all my love.
General Behavior: Evie is very cautious and distrustful of strangers at first and she will need a day or more to get comfortable with new people, pets, etc. Once she has decided that you are her people, however, she is a velcro dog who will follow you around the house. She is very snuggly and affectionate and requires a lot of attention.
Likes & Dislikes: Evie doesn't care much for toys or even food. (She needs gentle encouragement when eating her meals: holding the bowl up for her, positive affirmations, etc.) She just wants lots of snuggles and cuddles with her people. In terms of dislikes, she does not like her front paws touched, and does not like having her harness touched too much.
Training: Evie is a little lady! She is housetrained if let out regularly, she walks well on leash, she sleeps in a dog bed at night, and she is well-behaved on car rides. She just needs a watchful eye because she can become overexcited, when playing, etc. She likes to climb furniture (dining chairs, tables, etc.) and investigate things. She needs a watchful eye for these habits.
Medical: Evie is a healthy girl! She just needs her monthly flea and heartworm preventatives, like any dog.
Other Animals: Evie does well with other small dogs but seems to fear larger dogs. She hasn't been observed around cats yet but her foster does NOT think they would be a good fit for this shy sweetheart.
Children: Evie has not been observed around children yet.
Home: Evie does not like to be left alone, so she'd love a home where someone is around more often than not. Other than that, she'd be good in a condo, apartment, or single-family home.
Grooming: Evie has a longer coat, so she'll probably need brushing and professional grooming.
Overall: Evie will make a wonderful companion for someone who can handle a lot of kisses and snuggles.
Could you love Evie evermore? Please visit our website www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org where you will find the application to adopt. You’ll be put in contact with the foster family for more information if it’s a potential match. Bella is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and spayed. Her adoption donation is $400.
show lessGroot
American Bulldog, ,Hi, I’m Groot! I'm a 4-year-old, 62-lb American Bulldog blend. Like my Marvel namesake, I'm a gentle giant who just wants to find a great family who will love me forever.
General Behavior: Groot is the sweetest, most loving and devoted soul who will always be a puppy at heart.
Likes & Dislikes: Groot loves a car ride! He also loves his special, durable toys (not just any toys). By contrast, Groot dislikes loud noises, such as thunder or fireworks. If he is on a walk with a leash and all of a sudden there's a loud noise, he will get startled and pull on the leash .
Training: Groot has the makings of a very good boy! He is housetrained if let out regularly. He still needs more practice leash walking, but he is a good passenger in the car and he sleeps in a dog bed at night. Gadgets, toys, and any other objects should never be left lying within his reach: those need to be tidied away with Groot around.
Medical: Groot is a healthy guy and simply requires his monthly heartworm and flea prevention. As for his unique appearance, we did take Groot for a visit with a dermatologist and they suspect that maybe someone dumped something toxic/chemical on him in his past - his appearance is purely cosmetic and not allergy related. It doesn't bother him a bit.
Other Animals: Groot is good with other dogs: playful or calm, he loves them all! He is even good with cats.
Children: Groot has not been observed around children. However, he might try to play with/eat children's toys, so he would probably do best in a home without children.
Home: Groot's ideal home is a single family home with a securely fenced yard because he has high anxiety whenever there are thunderstorms and fireworks! He will bark non stop. He is also nervous of loud noises while out leash walking, so he would benefit from a secure yard where he could exercise.
Grooming: Groot doesn't require any elaborate grooms, just regular baths and nail trims. He isn't a fan of bathtubs so a big walk-in shower or even an outside bath on warm days suits him just fine.
Overall: Groot is an amazing dog who is looking for a very special family who will love him just the way he is.
Do you want to say "We are Groot...'s family"? Then visit our website www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org where you will find the application to adopt. You’ll be put in contact with the foster family for more information if it’s a potential match. He is up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. His adoption donation is $275.

Permanent Residents
Some of our dogs will stay in our care forever.
